Former Governator Arnold Schwarzenegger Wants To Run For President !

Arnold Schwarzenegger is hoping to change the rules of the U.S. Constitution to allow him to run for president in 2016.

The actor, who stars opposite Sylvester Stallone in this week's "Escape Plan", was born in Austria, and thus is ineligible to hold the highest office in the country.

The former California governor has been lobbying for support to get the law changed, and he's reportedly planning on filing paperwork to challenge the law -- a right he has since becoming a U.S. citizen in 1983.

"Schwarzenegger has been talking openly about working on getting the constitutional rules changed so he can run for president in 2016," a source tells the New York Post. "He is ready to file legal paperwork to challenge the rules."

If Schwarzenegger's petition makes it to congress for a vote, the House of Representatives and the Senate would both need a two-thirds majority vote to pass an amendment.

The actor told Jay Leno in 2010 that he would "without a doubt" run for president if the law were changed.

Schwarzenegger was Governor of California from 2003 to 2011.
