The key word for shoe design in 2012 has got to be 'inspiring', and that's certainly true of the latest collection from French designer brand Vionnet. Taking bright, paintbox colours and embellishments and applying them to its classic styles, the label has created something really quite wonderful, similar in many ways to the coming Christian Louboutin collection particularly, the Mexibeads 100mm style.

We love the placement of the beads on Vionnet's shoe (above), particularly the way that the contrasting red and blue are made to look just a little bit like the buckle on a Roger Vivier court shoe. The slender wooden heel gives a particularly summery quality to the over-all look of the shoe. There is also a flat version available to buy in the UK at Net-a-Porter.

Another style currently catching the eye of fashion editors everywhere is this minimal sandal style with wave-form canvas straps. When worn, the straps make a sophisticated pattern on the feet and lower ankles, adding interest and allure to your outfit.
