In the UK, one in eight women will be affected by breast cancer in her lifetime and every year around 48,000 and 340 men are diagnosed with the disease. Every month 1000 women die of breast cancer.
Sugababe Heidi Range, nails inc. and Breast Cancer Campaign have joined forces to encourage both women and men to ‘paint your pinkie pink’ to raise awareness and vital funds to support the work of Breast Cancer Campaign’s Tissue Bank.
The Breast Cancer Campaign Tissue Bank is a unique initiative established to safely and consistently store tissue samples donated by breast cancer patients from across the UK.
These samples will then be available to scientists to study how and why breast cancer develops and spreads, and to devise the best possible treatments.
There is currently no other large source of breast tissue available to scientists and doctors like this one anywhere in the world.
Chief Executive of Breast Cancer Campaign, Baroness Delyth Morgan said: ‘We are really excited about working with nails inc. on this innovative and exciting campaign which in raising awareness and vital funds for Breast Cancer Campaign will take us a step closer to finding a cure for breast cancer.”
Nails inc Founder Thea Green adds: ‘Breast Cancer touches all of us at one point in our lives.
